The small wonder Tata Nano
Tata Motors announced the commercial launch of the Tata Nano, keenly awaited across India since its unveiling on January 10, 2008. People were desperate to see the all new Tata Nano and saw the inaugural ceremony with held breath. The Tata Nano is BS-III* compliant and comes with an all-new 2-cylinder aluminium MPFI 624 cc petrol engine mated to a four-speed gear box and will be available in three variants. cars in india The cars will be on display across the country at Tata Motors Passenger Car dealerships and other select authorised outlets from April 1st.
Speaking at a Press Conference, the Chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors, Mr. Ratan N. Tata, said, 'The Nano represents the spirit of breaking conventional barriers. From the drawing board to its commercial launch, the concept, development and productionisation of the car has overcome several challenges. It is to the credit of the team at Tata Motors that a car once thought impossible by the world is now a reality. I hope it will provide safe, affordable, four-wheel transportation to families who till now have not been able to own a car. used cars in india. We are delighted in presenting the Tata Nano to India and the world.'
The rear-mounted engine not only improves efficiency but also dramatically improves safety. The engine is also associated with an exclusive engine control management unit that monitors the working of the engine and boost performance. The electronic system is Bosch's new Value Motronic system that is aimed at providing maximum functionality at minimum cost. The system works in conjunction with the sensors, injectors, and other significant hardware. For the first time a two cylinder engine is used in a car with single balancer shaft.
The Tata Nano is now surprisingly the world's smallest four-seater minicar with simplistic design that delivers the freedom of individual mobility at a cost-effective price. The new small car is expected to create a new history in the journey of automotive discovery.
The engine is further mated to a multi-point injection system and a 4-speed manual transmission. In addition, the McPherson strut suspension in the front and the rear independent coil spring helps improve handling and stability of the car. The Nano can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 12 seconds with a maximum speed of 110 km/h.
In the interior, it is brilliantly packed with a host of functional car features. The sense of space, wide windscreen, and high seating arrangement has made the small Nano a pretty comfortable car for city driving. The dash of the car is simple yet elegant with one piece moulding housing the centrally positioned instrumentation. The central console is impressive and inspired by two-wheeler module. Ergonomically, the car is great with adjustable driver's seat and fixed passenger seats. The high-end version of the car is equipped with air-conditioner, power windows, central locking, alloy wheels, and audio system.
